Indian School Darsait organized the 5th Nikon Inter-School Photography Exhibition and Competition under the aegis of BoD, Indian Schools in Oman and sponsored by M/s. Khimji Ramdas on 4th October 2018. Shri Anil Khimji, Director, Khimji Ramdas was the Chief Guest at the Valedictory Function held in the evening. Mr. Sachin Malhotra, COO, Khimji Ramdas Luxury& Lifestyle was the Guest of Honour.

The function began with the lighting of the lamp. Master Harikesav Pramodu, Head Boy welcomed the Chief Guest and the dignitaries to the day’s function. The students from the SEN Department presented chocolate bouquet and block printed shawl and coat to welcome the Chief Guest & Guest of Honour. Dr. Sridevi P.Thashnath, Principal delivered the Introductory Speech and elaborated on the procedures followed in the identification and selection of the entries by an eminent panel of judges and the details of the On the Spot Photography Competition.She recalled the benevolence and magnanimity of Khimji Ramdas and their bountiful support extended to the Inter-School Photography Exhibition&Competition over the years.Mr. Jaikish Pavithran, President, SMC reminisced his days as a photographer and shared his experience in capturing the unique moments in his life. He further described photography as a blending of art, science and culture and explained how a photographer becomes eternal through his photography. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Sachin Malhotra lauded the efforts of the school for organizing the event in such a magnitude and expressed his earnest wish to continue their support in the future endeavours of the school.

The Chief Guest and the Patron of the event, Shri. Anil Khimji announced the top three winners of the ‘On the Spot Photography Competition’ and presented them DSLR cameras with advanced specifications and features sponsored by Khimji Luxury & Lifestyle and Nikon Middle East. Adithya Krishna of Indian School Nizwa bagged the first prize while Shelbin of Indian School Muladha won the second prize and Alan Thomas Abraham again from Indian School Nizwa secured the third position.

Mr. Sachin Malhotra gave away 10 fabulous prizes as consolation and rest30 competitorswere given A Grade certificates. The sponsors also declared RO 10 worth gift vouchers to all the finalists.Shri. Anil Khimji presented Mementoes to the judges, resource persons and to all the participating schools.Ms. Anannya Jaikish, Head Girl proposed the vote of thanks.

The prestigious event was inaugurated in the morning by the Chief Guest Mr. Selvichen Jacob, Director, BoD. On behalf of the school the SEN Department extended a warm welcome with chocolate bouquet and block printed coat.The Chief Guest comparedthe lens of a camera to God’s eye that reveals what is unseen through our own eyes. He also wished the participants the very best for the competitions and encouraged them to take part with the competitive spirit. Ms. MaithreyeeNaik, IT Secretary delivered the welcome address and Ms. Malvika.R, HSE Secretary proposed the Vote of Thanks for the Inaugural Ceremony.The inauguration was followed by ‘On the Spot Photography Competition’where the contestants were taken to various locations in Qurum Park, Muscat. Later in the afternoon a Workshop and Orientation on Various Techniques in Photography was conducted by a well-known travel photographer Mr.Sanak Roy Choudhury and Mr. Syed Moizuddin of Nikon School.

As a token of gratitude the President SMC presented mementoes to the dignitaries. Among the prominent people who visited the exhibition and attended the functions were esteemed Members of SMC, Mr. Ajayan Poyyara, Former President, SMC, Dr. Alex C Joseph, Head of Academics, BoD, Mr. K. Himavan, Head – Sales & Distribution, Khimji Luxury & Lifestyle Division, staff and students representing the participating schools, administrators, teachers and students and a good number of parents and well-wishers of the host school.The day enthralled all andthe whole family of ISD was overwhelmed with a sense of contentment.
