Indian School Darsait organized ‘Utsav 2018’ on August 16 and 18. It was a great platform for students of Senior School to showcase their talents with confidence and more than 500 students from classes VI to XII put up their best performance in solo events in 21 competitions under four categories separately for boys and girls. The events conducted at various venues attracted students in large numbers. Competitions in most of the events were very close and it was a testimony to the high quality performance of the participants. In her inaugural address, the Chief Guest Mrs. Blessy Diana Shijin, Head Co-Curricular Subcommittee, SMC recalled her experience in the school competitions and as the best debater and encouraged children to exhibit their talents. Addressing the gathering Mr. Naveen Sudhakaran, Head, School Monitored Safe Transport Subcommittee, SMC motivated the children to take part in the competition enthusiastically and also urged the students, teachers and parents to keep their spirits high in the wake of Kerala floods. He also assured the parents and teachers of all moral support from SMC to cope with this unprecedented situations of the flood back home.

Dr. Sridevi P.Thashnath, Principal reminded the children that ‘though participation is important, they should compete with the spirit to win’. She profusely appreciated the Management Committee, staff, parents and above all the participants for making ‘Utsav 2018’ an impressive event in their lives. Mrs. Shamah Shamsudheen, Head, SEN Subcommittee SMC graced the occasion with her benign presence.

The events that enthralled the audience included Bharatanatyam with its classical expressions, recitation, light music, western solo, instrument music (Key board) and folk dance in all categories. Speeches in Malayalam and Hindi and Extempore (English), demonstrated their public speaking skills. Whereas, painting and pencil drawing took the onlookers to the world of colours, Visual Treat and Web Designing proved their competence in innovations. Apart from them, competitions, organized in literary events such as Short Story, Essay in English, Hindi and Malayalam, were opportunities for the young ones to soar high with wings of letters that took them to a world of imagination. Utsav 2018 made an indelible mark in the minds of the audience with lot of memories to carry home.
